◼️ Deal near airport would allow nearly 1 million s.f. of warehousing and preserve historic structures

The Charlotte City Council is expected to approve two related rezonings tonight that would smooth a deal among the airport, a warehouse developer and the Historic Landmarks Commission to preserve a couple of historic properties just south of the airport.

The rezonings would allow Foundry Commercial to develop land near the old Steele Creek Presbyterian Church and cemetery, off Steele Creek Road. Plans submitted to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Historic Landmarks Commission show seven buildings surrounding the church totaling about 900,000 s.f.:
