The top three designs for the new McColl Park in uptown were presented to the public Thursday evening, and nearly 100 residents turned out to learn more about the concepts and give feedback.
McColl Park, formerly known as Polk Park, sits on a 1/3-acre space at the corner of Trade and Tryon Streets and is named for former Bank of America chairman Hugh McColl Jr. Charlotte Center City Partners is in the midst of raising $10M for the project.
Charlotte native and lead park designer Walter Hood said he wanted to take a corner of town that he remembers fondly (he used to ride the bus to the National Hat Shop on Trade and Tryon streets) and give it new life as Charlotte has changed and grown over the decades.
