Announcing the nominees for the second-annual 40 Over 40 awards
Our hardworking judges are in the process of selecting 40 from this impressive group of 122
Today, we introduce you to a very special group of Charlotte residents — the nominees for the second-annual Charlotte Ledger 40 Over 40 awards.
These 122 people, all ages 40 and up, come from diverse backgrounds, interests and corners of Charlotte, and are all working to make our city a better place in their own unique ways. They were nominated by friends or peers in a process that closed last month.
A panel of 17 responsible under-40 judges, chosen for their wisdom and common sense, has been toiling under the weight of selecting 40 of these impressive people as our second class of 40 Over 40 winners. Once the winners are selected, they will be recognized in a special edition of The Ledger, and we will honor them at a to-be-determined event, which may or may not include a famous celebrity.
Last year, our inaugural crop of 40 Over 40 winners included impressive leaders in business, the arts, charities and many other areas. We believe in celebrating those over age 40 who may consider themselves late bloomers — people who have gained wisdom over their 20s and 30s and used that to change their communities for the better after age 40.
The contest is sponsored and run by The Charlotte Ledger, the locally owned e-newsletter that is taking Charlotte by storm by repeatedly breaking news and providing thoughtful and lively insights about Charlotte.
