A new school made possible with CMS bond money will train nurses and technologists
To address a critical shortage of health care workers, Atrium Health and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools are partnering to create an early college program at Hawthorne Academy of Health Sciences.
The program, made possible by a $26.3M grant from Bloomberg Philanthropies, will offer students specialized classes co-taught by Carolinas College of Health Sciences employees, hands-on training at Atrium facilities and an opportunity to earn industry credentials, according to an Atrium news release.
Students will train for jobs as registered nurses, certified nursing assistants, radiologic technologists and more.
