Leaders in Charlotte’s hospitality industry say economists don’t understand the real effects of stadium events

Some backers of the deal to renovate Bank of America Stadium with $650M of Charlotte tourism tax money apparently aren’t fond of economists.

In recent comments to local media, two leaders of the local hospitality industry have questioned the view, widely held by economists, that public investments in sports stadiums do little for economic growth.
