Plans move forward to overhaul a 1924 office building into a 245-room Tryon Street hotel called ‘The Beckworth’

New details are emerging about the conversion of a century-old uptown office building into a 245-room hotel — starting with a new name: “The Beckworth.”

In May, California-based investment company KHP Capital Partners announced plans to convert the 17-story building at 212 S. Tryon St., known as the Johnston Building or the Midtown Plaza building, to a hotel.
