93 years after the Charlotte Symphony’s first concert, it will return to the renovated Carolina Theatre where it debuted

There’s been lots of anticipation over the renovation and reopening of the historic Carolina Theatre on Tryon Street in uptown — and after eight years of construction work and a $90M price tag, the curtain is coming up.

It seems fitting that one of the first groups to perform there will be one with a storied history in the space — the Charlotte Symphony, which gave its inaugural performance at the Carolina Theatre on March 20, 1932.
