Check out our LIVE BLOG on CMS school assignment vote
School board meeting on boundaries starts at 6 p.m.; We're logging in the blow-by-blow action
Hello!
Just a quick note to let you know that the Ledger team is going to be LIVE BLOGGING tonight’s school board meeting, at which the board is expected to vote on the big south Charlotte school assignment maps.
The proposed boundary changes affect 27 schools attended by tens of thousands of students. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools has been devising drafts for more than a year. The final recommended versions were released three weeks ago — and the vote is scheduled for tonight, at a meeting that starts at 6 p.m.
We’ll provide regular updates tonight from the Government Center, providing interested readers with the blow-by-blow on this important issue — with context and perspectives that we have developed covering this story for many months.
Feel free to check out the LIVE BLOG:
The blog will rev up a little before 6 p.m. and keep going until there’s a decision. We’ll try to keep it punchy and interesting and tell you what you need to know. And we’ll incorporate comments and questions from Ledger members along the way by using the “comments” feature.
➡️ Also look for a complete report in Wednesday’s edition of The Charlotte Ledger. (Wednesday’s full newsletter is for paying members only 🔒 — if you’re not a paying member, you will need to join for full access to tomorrow’s newsletter.)
Late night expected: Tonight’s meeting could go late — probably until after 10 p.m. It’s a full agenda, there are 75 speakers signed up, and the student assignment portion is toward the end of the meeting.
