FINAL WEEK: Get tickets to The Ledger's fun '80s party
We'd love to see you at our 40 Over 40 celebration next week!
The weather is looking favorable, the DJ is assembling a playlist of ’80s tunes, the food and the drinks are ordered … all that is missing is you!
Next week, The Charlotte Ledger is hosting a 1980s-movie-themed party that’s probably nothing like you have ever attended. It’s next Thursday, April 27, and you’re welcome to join us.
It’s the Charlotte Ledger 40 Over 40 Awards celebration, presented by U.S. Bank. It’s a chance to come out to have a fun time, meet some folks who are making Charlotte better and enjoy dinner and drinks. We announced the winners last month.
Awards programs often require attendees to endure snooze-fests in hotel ballrooms — but that’s not how we roll. This is a fun and dynamic celebration, with a costume contest and lively entertainment.
Come join us — this is next week we’re talking about — from 6-9 p.m. at the Charlotte Museum of History in east Charlotte.
Last year’s celebration brought out 225+ people and featured dancers, music, food and drink and a 1980s costume contest.
‘Action-packed’ … ‘friendly and welcoming’ … ‘casual atmosphere’
We asked folks who attended last year to share what it was like. A few of the responses:
“It was action-packed! I loved the dancing, and the food was great!”
“It was a casual atmosphere, and I enjoyed meeting new faces!”
“Mingling with other smart, well-informed people was fun, and I loved seeing all the costumes!”
“Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. I enjoyed the entertainment, venue, networking opportunities, and of course the food.”
A taste of Charlotte history: Your ticket also gets you access to the Charlotte Museum of History’s first-floor exhibits — including “Charlotte: Signs of Home,” which features iconic Charlotte signs from decades past that once adorned Dilworth, Plaza-Midwood, uptown, Oakhurst and east Charlotte. And get this: the curator of the Charlotte signs exhibit, Christopher Lawing, will even be on hand at the party to talk about the signs and his Charlotte Signs Project. We think that’s pretty cool.
Christopher Lawing collected signs from Charlotte’s history, which are now on display at the Charlotte Museum of History — and you can see them and others next week at our ‘80s-themed party. Three pictured here are from the Penguin restaurant, Eastland Mall and Peeler’s Portrait Studio.
Tickets to the event are $95 per person, plus fees and taxes, which covers the costs of food stations from the Charlotte company behind Mama Ricotta’s, Yafo Kitchen and Paco’s Tacos & Tequila (Plate Perfect Catering); the DJ and entertainment; and an open bar (beer and wine). Ledger members receive a $10 discount by using the promo code you can find here.
And we couldn’t do it without the support of our event sponsors:
Presenting sponsor: U.S. Bank
Gold sponsors: Catapult, Ducie Stark - Residential Real Estate Broker with Dickens Mitchener
Silver sponsors: The Charlotte Museum of History and CLT Public Relations
Local celebration: The Ledger is proudly a Charlotte-based company. We love sharing information with you about local topics. This event celebrates all things local — local people making our community better, at a venue focused on local history.
So get your friends together and join us! We hope you can make it for a fun spring night out!
