Guiding older adults through their golden years, with Jennifer Szakaly

Jennifer Szakaly, the founder and CEO of Caregiving Corner, helps older adults and their families navigate the complexities of healthcare and finances.

Jennifer Szakaly is the founder and CEO of Caregiving Corner, a Charlotte-based company that provides advice to help guide older adults and their families through the complexities of caregiving, such as the aging process and long-term care.

Szakaly founded Caregiving Corner in 2005. It also works with attorneys, financial planners, home care agency owners and health care providers so that they can best serve their clients.

Szakaly graduated from UNC Charlotte in 2002 with a master’s in gerontology. She received her bachelor’s degree from Belmont Abbey College in 2000.

In this episode of The Charlotte Ledger Podcast, Szakaly sits down with Ledger podcast host Steve Dunn of Miles Mediation and Arbitration to discuss:

  • What an “aging life care manager” does.

  • The nuances of caregiving — the cost of care, when to use long-term care insurance, etc. — and how Caregiving Corner addresses them.

  • What inspired her to start her own caregiving firm.

  • The complexity of the healthcare system.

  • When someone should start looking into long-term care and what questions they should be asking themselves.

Szakaly was awarded The Ledger’s 40 Over 40 Award in 2023 for her work with Caregiving Corner.

We hope you enjoy the conversation with Jennifer Szakaly.
