Instagram video appears to show Harry the Dragon baking sugar cookies; grocery chain touts ‘big announcement’ next week
by Cristina Bolling
A video posted this week on Harris Teeter’s Instagram account points to what appears to be the revival of a longstanding tradition for the grocery chain — the offering of free cookies in each of its stores.
The video shows young children writing letters to Harris Teeter mascot Harry the Happy Dragon, and Harry sifting through bags of fan mail when a lightbulb appears above his head. The video flashes to an aproned Harry in the kitchen, grooving to hype music and mixing up what appears to be dough made from Harris Teeter-branded flour, eggs, butter, sugar and vanilla. The video ends with a hand-drawn note that says “to be continued.”
Harris Teeter’s PR department circulated a press release “from the desk of Harry the Happy Dragon” this week offering Harry to come to TV stations next week for a public announcement.
