A group of three distinguished judges concluded in a ceremonial ruling this week that legal arguments in favor of the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence’s authenticity were more compelling than arguments doubting it.
In a high school moot court competition held at the federal courthouse uptown on Monday, a panel consisting of N.C. Supreme Court Chief Justice Paul Newby, federal district court Judge Frank Whitney and chief federal bankruptcy Judge Laura Beyer declared the pro-Meck Dec side the winner.
