The first event:
College admissions — What you need to know right now!
Thursday, October 7 at 7:00pm
This first event is a virtual panel discussion for parents who want to navigate the college admissions process with as little anxiety as possible. We’ve put together a group of local professionals with a wealth of experience to offer advice on topics including timelines, campus visits, paying for college and more.
The Ledger is presenting this event in partnership with our friends at Jumbo, a Charlotte company that builds live-streaming platforms.
Ledger managing editor and mother of three Cristina Bolling will lead our discussion of the following topics:
Timeline: what to do, when, and how to plan for it.
The “Best School” myth: Finding the best fit in terms of budget and experience.
As a parent, how involved should I be (or not), and how can I be most helpful in this process.?
What do parents need to know about financial aid and scholarships?
How to make the most of a college visit, even during a pandemic.
ACT/SAT scores: required or optional? submit or not?
Your student doesn’t get into their top-choice school (or maybe their 2nd or 3rd choice). What now?
➡️ JOIN US: To participate in Thursday’s online event, you’ll need to become a member of The Charlotte Ledger, a locally owned media company with smart and essential local news delivered six mornings a week by e-newsletter.
