Pineville reinstates criminal penalties for aggressive panhandling, as Charlotte considers recriminalizing public pooping and peeing

As the Charlotte City Council continues to consider whether to reinstate criminal penalties for offenses like public urination and defecation, the Pineville Town Council unanimously approved reinstating criminal penalties for aggressive panhandling on Tuesday.

Pineville Police Chief Mike Hudgins submitted a request to urge council members to impose criminal penalties that can be used against panhandlers who are creating a nuisance, delaying traffic or creating threatening or hostile situations. Officials said panhandlers have been getting more aggressive lately.
