Process on stadium improvements appears to be moving forward

If you thought Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper was unpopular after his highly publicized drink-throwing episode last weekend in Jacksonville, just wait until the Panthers ask for public money for stadium upgrades.

Those discussions are still unfolding. At its Dec. 11 meeting, the Charlotte City Council voted to meet in closed session to discuss a possible business expansion, “including agreement on a tentative list of economic development incentives that may be offered by the city of Charlotte,” the city attorney said in the public portion of the meeting. We’ve learned that the closed-door session included a briefing on the status of discussions with Tepper and his team.
