An earthquake? In North Carolina? Yes.
Yes, you did feel an earthquake this morning.
The U.S. Geological Survey reports that a 5.1 magnitude earthquake hit Sparta, 100 miles north of Charlotte near the Virginia border, at 8:07 a.m. We felt it in Charlotte.
For North Carolina, that’s a pretty big quake, but maybe not big enough for major damage.
