Happy Sunday!
We want to make sure you’re receiving only the emails from The Charlotte Ledger that you actually want.
Did you know you can manage your preferences and opt into or out of individual newsletter topics based on your interests?
It’s easy:
Go online to your account settings. (If you have never done that before, you might need to log in with your email address — the one this email was sent to — and have it verified by sending an email to yourself. After that, you are logged in. There is no password to remember.)
From there, you can toggle on or off any of our newsletters by clicking the button that makes them blue (on) or gray (off).
You’re in control—and we’ll send only what’s relevant to you.
If you have any questions, please contact support@cltledger.com, and our customer support team will be happy to help you.
No junk email: I would also note that The Ledger appears to be one of the few local media companies in Charlotte that doesn’t spam its readers with dedicated sponsored email blasts hyping real estate deals, plastic surgeons, sketchy-sounding financial products, miracle cures and other offers. For all I know, bombarding readers with spam is lucrative for media companies who choose to engage in that practice, but The Ledger doesn’t believe in doing that, so we don’t. We also don’t sell your personal information to advertisers.
Here’s a quick look at our six distinct newsletters:
The Charlotte Ledger (main newsletter): Smart, independent local news on a variety of topics, delivered Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Paid members receive the full version. Free readers receive abbreviated versions.
Ways of Life: Obituaries that tell the stories of remarkable lives of people in our community. This is for paying members only and comes out Tuesdays, though it is on hiatus for the summer.
Transit Time: Insight and reporting on Charlotte transit and transportation, produced in partnership with WFAE. It’s free to all and comes out Thursdays, though it is on hiatus during the summer. (It might emerge from hibernation as Charlotte’s transit plan progresses.)
Real Estate Whispers: Behind-the-scenes news on Charlotte-area real estate, growth and development. It’s for paying members only and comes out approximately weekly, toward the beginning of the week.
Fútbol Friday: A weekly look at Charlotte FC, by Carroll Walton. This is free to all and comes out Fridays during the February-to-October season.
Toppman on the Arts: Critic Lawrence Toppman’s perspective on Charlotte performances, exhibits and more. It’s free to all and comes out when he has a new review ready.
That’s an eclectic mix, but we choose local topics where we have expertise and can provide smart, original insights that you can’t find elsewhere. You can decide which suit your interests!
Thanks for being part of The Ledger—we’re here to make your inbox more useful, not more crowded.

As a subscriber, I want to second what is written here, in terms of not receiving unwanted sales pitches via email. Great job informing readers on their level of control on Substack, as the platform provides this fine level of control to readers and writers.
