Was a monorail for that HOV/bus/was empty for like 20-years lane ever considered? I understand that people like to meme about them, and they have some drawbacks, but if you look at newer ones like the Marconi Express, it might be the best option for that tight corridor of space.
I still don’t understand the logic behind a dedicated rapid bus lane on Independence Blvd., when that road is already congested and a nightmare to navigate. Really dislike how the Matthews light rail opportunity is being squandered here.
They have not worked out what that might look like on Independence. Hard to imagine they would take away a lane from Independence to dedicate it for buses. You'd either have to build a lane on the side or in the middle for it to be true bus rapid transit. The light rail plan was to run along the side of Independence (before jogging over to Monroe Road by East Meck HS).
Did Independence used to have its own bus lane? Was there a Matthews Express Bus Years ago? (Is there still?)
