Backers see encouraging signs in last weekend’s loss at DC
OK, so Charlotte FC lost its first-ever match last weekend, by a score of 3-0 in Washington against D.C. United.
But players and fans left generally encouraged by the team’s play and said the score didn’t reflect the performance. A first-half goal was called back for offside, and another shot went off the right post.
Kevin Young of The 5 and 2 Project put together this cool 4-minute video of the game, with some of the highlights and action in the stands among the many Charlotte fans who made the trip. (Can you spot David Tepper?)
The home opener is Saturday (March 5) at 7:30 p.m. at Bank of America Stadium against the LA Galaxy. More than 70,000 fans are expected.
We’ll tell you everything you need to know in this week’s installment of Fútbol Friday, our regular Friday newsletter that covers Charlotte FC. —TM
