Excellent article about the lack of psychiatrists. This is not only for children and teens but for adults also. Since my former psychiatrist retired I have been unable to find another psychiatrist who takes Medicare along with my medical supplement. I cannot afford $500 per hour out of pocket. All I need is medication management. I can’t even find a psychiatric nurse practitioner. With a growing mental health crisis and major traumatic events this is unacceptable. The North Carolina legislature is holding up passage of a budget and expanding Medicaid. This is playing politics with people’s lives. This is morally and ethically wrong.
