Amy Hillis is the co-founder of Social Pet Hotel and Daycare, a pet care company with two locations in Charlotte and one location in Pineville. Hillis started the business with her husband, Bill, in 2014 to offer customized, high-end pet care for Charlotte’s pets, including daycare, boarding and grooming.
In this episode of The Charlotte Ledger Podcast, Hillis talks with the Ledger’s Tony Mecia about her journey as an entrepreneur in the pet care industry, and the evolving landscape of pet care in Charlotte. She also discusses:
Her transition from teaching to entrepreneurship.
Charlotte’s need for a pet care facility that bridged the gap between high-end franchises and typical mom-and-pop kennels.
How Social Pet works to set itself apart in a saturated market for pet care in Charlotte.
Insight into what pet owners should look for when selecting a pet care provider.
The joys and challenges of the pet care industry.
We hope you enjoy the conversation with Amy Hillis.
